The Kirkland Teen Union Building is a partnership between the City of Kirkland and the YMCA.
Through the Kirkland Teen Union Building, the Y strives to meet and exceed the social and cultural needs of teens in Kirkland and beyond while offering resources that empower them to become active, caring, and responsible community members. As a recreation, resource and arts center, this unique facility gives teens a positive, supportive environment to develop their skills, connect with their peers and make a difference locally. The Y is dedicated to youth development, and alongside our partners and supporters we’re working to strengthen our community now and for the future.
The KTUB facility boasts a youth-run café and store, two stages for live music, photographic darkroom, recording studio, technology lab, silkscreen station and an art studio. There is no membership fee to join KTUB!
A RECREATIONAL CENTER

CHILL is for first time learners and provides everything from transportation, to gear, lift tickets, and coaching at NO COST to the participants! This is one of KTUB’s most popular and longest running programs!

A RESOURCE CENTER
KTUB partners with YES to provide an on-site counselor who provides free services to youth by scheduled appointment or drop-in. Young people can also connect with the Friends of Youth Outreach Team who assists homeless young people with case management to find shelter, transportation, access to health care or work towards family reconciliation when possible. Teens can also come in for a free 30 minute Career Advising Drop In Service to meet with our Career Resource Specialist to assist them with finding and applying for meaningful employment. KTUB is staffed by a team of youth development professionals who are there to listen and help.

Young people volunteer at KTUB by helping out at Teen Feed and KTUB concerts or by participating in one of the KTUB’s service projects partnering with organizations across the region. KTUB encourages young people who want to start their own projects or need supervisors for school projects to use KTUB as a resource.
AN ARTS CENTER
KTUB is one of the area’s premier all-ages concert venues hosting concerts or dance events on our mainstage almost every Friday and Saturday night. We also host smaller shows with solo artists on our second stage in the Cafe. Young people are involved with every aspect of our concert programs, from booking and running the shows to the youth bands that perform on stage. Young emerging bands and performers have the opportunity to play a show at KTUB by participating the band development steps. KTUB is home to the Voyager Studio, an affordable audio recording studio for young people to record their music as well as learn the technical aspects of audio recording.
Arts and Media
The KTUB facility lends itself to the creation of art in various forms. In the community cooperative photography darkroom, people of all ages comes to develop film and make photographic prints in a traditional black and white photography lab. In the technology lab, young people have access to industry standard photo correction and design software. In the KTUB art studio, young people can make use of silkscreening supplies and a variety of materials during regular drop-in hours. Schedules art courses and free, drop in art activities are offered throughout the year in a variety of media.
KTUB is the perfect venue for dances, birthday parties, graduations, and other group events. With stages, dance floor, café, and game room, the KTUB facility can accommodate any occasion.
